Patagonia Writer's Roundup ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On February 13, The Friends of the Patagonia Library holds their seventh annual Writer's Round-up from 10 am - 3 pm at Cady Hall in Patagonia. Altogether, 24 authors will be on hand to sign their books and to converse with visitors. Writers who will attend are Mark Bahti, Betty Barr, Byrd Baylor, Joel Bernstein, J.P.S. Brown, Philip Caputo, Laura Chester, Stephen Cox, Alison Deming, Jane Eppinga, Elizabeth Gunn, Lynn Hassler, Juanita Havill, Mike Hayes, Fenton Johnson, Ken Lamberton, Susan Lowell, Gregory McNamee, Tom Miller, Gary Paul Nabhan, Margaret Regan, Richard Shelton and Stephen Strom. New this year, there will be 2 workshops, "Becoming a Writer," and "Getting Published." As a Grand Finale to the day, Richard Shelton, author of the much-loved classic Going Back to Bisbee, will read from his work at 3 pm in the Library. Steve has had 2 new books published within the last year, Observatories of the Southwest: A Guide for Curious Skywatchers, with Douglas Isbell, and his photography monograph, Earth Forms. Come to the Writer's Round-up on February 13 to talk with Steve about these books and to get your copies. If you are unable to attend this event, we remind you that you may obtain a signed copy of Earth Forms directly from us. Please visit the book website to see examples of its content. If you would like to purchase a copy, just reply to this email and we will be happy to make arrangements with you for delivery. We also offer a combination of a signed book with a signed print (8" x 8") of one of the images in the book, for $90. Of course, the book is also available from Amazon.com.
Other activity ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Several weeks after we returned from China, Steve received a surprise email message indicating that the portfolio he exhibited at the Lishui Photography Festival had been selected as one of the "Best in Exhibition." In recognition of this he will receive a cash award and a plaque. Steve is one of 6 photographers selected by juror Deborah Klomp Ching from the annual Photography Now competition. Portfolios of these photographers' work will be published in Issue 99 of Photography Quarterly, published by the Center for Photography at Woodstock. The PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, VT has just announced the selections for their Floral show. One of Steve's images was accepted into that show. Karen has several new images posted on her website in the Illusions of Reality series.
