-- June and July Activities
-- Looking Ahead

Greetings!

Happy post July fourth. It appears as if the monsoon season has begun, although a bit hesitantly. We have hope for rain soon and an end to the fire season.

It has been a fairly quiet June on the photographic front. We have been spending most of our time preparing for our upcoming one-person shows in September in Tucson. After all images are printed and off to the framers, we will also travel to the Pacific NW to visit our daughter, Kathy, in the Portland area. Following that, we plan to head down the coast with a visit with our oldest granddaughter, Rebecca, and a gallery in Santa Barbara to discuss a possible future show of Steve's Earth & Mars images. We also plan a week of photographing on the Oregon coast, with stops at Bandon, Yachats and Gold Beach.

In early June, Karen attended the Review Santa Fe juried portfolio review in early June to discuss her new work with gallerists and museum curators.

We neglected to mention in last month's newsletter that Karen has an image in the Early Morning, After Dark exhibit at the Minneapolis Photo Center. The show opened on June 24th and continues through August 13th.

Steve has an image included in the show Center Forward at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO. The show opened on June 3 with a reception from 6 - 9 pm. When the show closes in Fort Collins it will be on exhibit at the Denver International Airport.

Karen's image, Casa Blanca Inn, has been accepted by the photographers:network 2011. Her work, along with those of other selected photographers, will be published by PROFIFOTO, a leading national photography magazine for professionals in Germany. The work will be also be published on Thomas Kellner's (the organizer) website, and opens in his studio in Siegen, Germany on June 24 , 2011.

Karen's website has been recently updated. A new portfolio of her tiling images has been added. In addition, a set of movies intended to show her thought processes as she constructs some of the images in her Architectronics series is now available for viewing.

In addition to the new portfolio of Earth and Mars images, the Press page on Steve's website now contains an audio interview, conducted over the telephone by Brooks Jensen, of Lenswork Publishing. The interview is included in Lenswork Extended #89, a DVD publication, which also includes a portfolio of 43 of Steve's color images.
