Greetings! 
Steve and Karen each had two images in the Beyond the Lens show at the Tubac Center for the Arts. The opening reception was held on the evening of April 1 where Karen learned that one of her images, Breakfast, John's Island, WA, had been named Best of Show. Steve learned that one of his images, Haleakala Crater, Maui, HI, had received an Award of Merit. We had a wonderful trip to the East coast where we saw two of our granddaughters and visited with photographers, gallery curators, and directors. Steve had an excellent audience for his book signing at the Odyssey Bookshop in South Hadley, MA. His lecture and signing was attended by geologists, astronomers and past students as well as others attracted by the book store notices. He also gave two astronomy talks, at Harvard and UMass where he reconnected with many of his former colleagues. | |
| May Activities ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Karen is the Emerging Artist at Verve Gallery of Photography in Santa Fe during the exhibit featuring Mark Citret, Douglas Ethridge and Dominic Rouse which opened on March 19 and runs through May 8.
 On Mother's day we will leave for a road trip heading first to the Portland area where Steve will have a one person show at The Camerawork Gallery running from May 22 to June 18. He will give a talk on the development of his artistic vision at 2pm on May 22, followed by a book signing and reception. We look forward to spending time photographing on the Oregon Coast on the way and in the Oregon and Nevada deserts on the return trip. The Portfolio ShowCase Volume 4 containing a portfolio of Steve's landscape images is available online from the Center for Fine Art Photography. The virtual exhibit can be viewed online, and a book containing the portfolios is in production and will become available for order through the website sometime during May. | |
| Beyond May ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Steve has just received notice that his image, Haleakala Crater, Maui, HI, which received the Award of Merit in Tubac, will be included in the Texas Photographic Society 24th Members Only Show at the Martin Museum of Art at Baylor University in Waco, Texas The show will open on June 8 and run through July 10.
In July Steve and Karen will have a joint show at the Open Shutter Gallery in Durango, CO. Otherwise, we expect a generally quiet summer and hope to be able to spend time working with the images that we acquire on our upcoming trip.
